The star CAC 40 index lost 11.72 points to 6,742.25 points.

The day before, the Parisian rating had finished up slightly by 0.23%.

Over the week, it rose 0.44%, its ninth consecutive week of growth.

In November, 263,000 jobs were created in the United States, well above the 200,000 that analysts had expected.

The unemployment rate remained stable at 3.7%, a very low level.

These figures show that the labor market remains solid despite the measures taken to slow economic activity in order to curb inflation.

Additionally, wages rose at a faster rate than in October: by 0.6% (compared to 0.5% the previous month), to average $32.82 per hour.

“Wages continue to increase much faster than before the pandemic, when they increased by around 2% to 3% per year”, comments Christian Parisot for the broker Aurel BGC.

"However, the US central bank is concerned that wage growth stemming from a tight labor market will add upward pressure to already high inflation in the US," he added.

On Wednesday, Jerome Powell, the president of the American central bank declared that "the time to slow the pace of rate hikes could come as soon as the December meeting".

But with the higher-than-expected employment figures “the hoped-for interest rate break should be pushed back further into 2023,” warns Jürgen Molnar of RoboMarkets.

On the bond market, US debt rates jumped while European sovereign yields rose slightly.

The French 10-year debt rate took 4.5 basis points to reach 2.30%.

Teleperformance signs an agreement for its workers

The French call center giant Teleperformance gained 3.30% to 228.50 euros after announcing on Thursday the signing of an agreement with the trade union organization UNI Global Union, active in 150 countries, aimed at strengthening the "rights employees to form trade unions and participate in collective bargaining".

The agreement covers the group's 440,000 employees worldwide.

However, the title did not recover the losses (-30%) recorded after accusations of labor law violations in Colombia.
