Sweden currently has two government plans put forward by the Armed Forces that the government, the king and the speaker can use when travelling.

But the government wants to expand with another plan in the first half of 2023. According to documents from the Armed Forces that Aftonbladet has seen, 20 million is set aside for this.

Increased travel needs

The proposal is that a third plane be rented and by December 9 at the latest, the Swedish Armed Forces must come up with a report.

The reason why the government wants to increase the number of flights is that it is estimated that the trips will increase during the next year due to the impending EU presidency.

"The armed forces have received a supplement to temporarily rent an additional aircraft during Sweden's presidency of the EU in 2023.

Then three trips with the state flight can be carried out at the same time instead of the current two."

writes Defense Minister Pål Jonson's press secretary Johan Hjelmstrand in a comment to the newspaper.
