The Ukrainian military has stepped up its alarm over the possibility of new missile strikes targeting infrastructure facilities across Ukraine in the near future.

Under these circumstances, President Zelensky called on the people to unite, saying, ``I will never be a gear of some empire again.''

As the severe cold continues in Ukraine, the Russian military has repeatedly conducted large-scale missile attacks across Ukraine, causing serious power shortages in various parts of the country.



A high-ranking Ukrainian military official warned on December 1, ``In the near future, enemy countries may launch missile attacks on critical infrastructure facilities.''



Under these circumstances, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video released on the 1st, ``Every December 1st, we remember the events that defined history,'' 31 years ago, on December 1st, 1991. He emphasized that independence from the former Soviet Union received overwhelming public support in the referendum held.



"The desire of the people to live freely will not be dashed, and Ukrainians will never again be the wheels of any empire," he said.

Emotional care for Ukrainian soldiers and families is a challenge

On the other hand, as more than nine months have passed since Russia's military invasion, in Ukraine, psychological care for soldiers and their families who have become mentally unstable due to harsh fighting has become an issue.



At the "Libiu Center" operated by the city in western Lviv, after the military invasion by Russia in February this year, people suffering from flashback symptoms when they were on the battlefield, people who became dependent on alcohol and drugs, etc. We are providing psychological care to approximately 1,000 soldiers, and the number of people who need support, including the families of soldiers, continues to increase.



Director Tukachuk of the center told NHK that he would like to continue to provide necessary support to soldiers and their families.
