The Social Democrats now control the majority of the 21 regions – they have gone from 8 chair positions to 13.

And Värmland is the typical example.

After three bourgeois-ruled mandate periods, S has achieved a change of power together with C and V.

The Left Party has increased its influence in several parts of the country.

Now they are part of six regional boards, previously there were only two.

In all cases, they collaborate with S.

The center switched sides

The Center Party has changed sides in six regions and thus retains influence in twelve of them, compared to 19 after the last election.

Eight of these are now cooperating with the Social Democrats.

In Värmland, it is thanks to the centre's change of sides that the left-wing bloc now has a majority in the council.

- For us, it was about either being part of a majority government, or opposition.

Then this turned out to be the best in the end, says Erik Evestam (C), who had to drop the requirements for private actors in psychiatry to be able to collaborate with S and V.

SD remains in opposition

The Sweden Democrats have the largest percentage increase in the number of mandates, seen across all regions.

Despite this, they are only part of a single board: region Gävleborg.

- There is probably still a fear of touching some parties, especially if we look at the center parties, C and L, says Mikael Strandman (SD), regional councilor in opposition in Värmland.
