Britain's Royal Navy will buy a double-decker bus-sized submarine to protect Britain's underwater cables.

The robotic vessel, which can withstand pressure at great depths, will be the first unmanned submarine in the British fleet.

The Times newspaper indicated that the cost of the submarine "Qaetos" - after the legendary monster killed by the Greek hero Perseus - is estimated at 15.4 million pounds sterling.

This battery-powered submarine will be able to cover about 1,000 miles on a single mission.

It was bought by the Royal Navy to enhance its ability to protect infrastructure at depth.

The newspaper stated that the use of this submarine comes amid growing concern about the West's vulnerability to hidden attacks on cables and pipelines that cross the ocean floor.

It is noteworthy that the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, which transport natural gas from Russia to Germany, were damaged by the explosions in September, amid suspicions about the involvement of Russia, which denied this.
