In his letter, Bardella asked the EC to explain how the anti-Russian sanctions are connected with the recession in the European Union.

“What role, according to the European Commission, did European anti-Russian economic sanctions play in causing a recession that will soon overwhelm the eurozone?”

the parliamentarian asked.

In his opinion, the introduction of restrictions against Russia in connection with the conflict in Ukraine is justified, but it may have consequences.

Thus, the parliamentary "Group on Identity and Democracy", in which the MEP is a member, warns against the risk of economic sanctions being counterproductive.

Politicians believe that they will "benefit" Moscow and have a negative impact on the inhabitants of Europe.

Earlier, the EC said that at the end of the year, most EU countries will enter into recession.

The euro area economy is forecast to contract in Q4 2022 and Q1 2023.

Moreover, a recession threatens about a third of the global economy next year.

This was announced by the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva.

Meanwhile, according to experts, the economic situation in Europe does not pose a big threat to Russia.
