Care for people with pedophile disorder or sexual interest in children is limited in Sweden, but the ANOVA clinic treats patients both medically and psychotherapeutically. - We need to reach more people, but there is a lot of shame and it arouses very strong emotions and rightly so because it is serious to live out, says Katarina Görts Öberg, section manager ANOVA.
ANOVA also runs the Preven Tell telephone line, where people can turn to for thoughts about unwanted sexuality.
However, Katarina sees a need to expand the care and the physical receptions, which are now only available in a few places in the country.
- You need to be able to meet physically to diagnose if you have a pedophile disorder, and then also get medical treatment if you need it, says Katarina Görts Öberg.
