The US Department of Defense (The Pentagon) said - in a statement - that the US State Department has approved potential military sales to the State of Qatar estimated at one billion dollars, including anti-drone systems.

The Pentagon stated in its statement that 3 companies will form the list of prime contractors, and indicated that the Defense Security Cooperation Agency affiliated with the ministry had notified the US Congress - yesterday, Tuesday - of the potential deal.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency said - in a statement - that the potential deal relates to FS-LIDS anti-drone systems and other military equipment, as well as a training program.

The statement indicated that the potential deal will improve Qatar's ability to confront current and future threats, by providing capabilities against drone systems.

The agency said that the proposed sale of this equipment and support will not change the basic military balance in the region, as it put it.
