- Before there was opposition to hyggesfritt.

The consultants had to "hold on to their hats" when they were out to inform.

Now both landowners, forestry companies and landowner associations are asking for advice and courses, says Erik Westin forest consultant at the Forestry Agency in Linköping, Östergötland district.

"Hygge-free week"

That is why the Norwegian Forestry Agency is now organizing the "Hygge-free week" 28 November - 2 December, a special initiative with, among other things, about fifteen online lectures that are open to everyone.

Ingrained delusions

- There are many incorrect sentences and strong opinions about hyggesfritt, says Erik Westin.

At Södra Skogsägarna's "Forest Day", Erik Westin led an introduction to logging-free methods in forestry for the members.

Hygge-free means, for example, that the land is never bare, you always have forest on the land and plant new trees under canopy trees.

- Sometimes parallels are drawn with the "green lie", i.e. that dimensional or pick felling in itself would be free of hygge.

But that is not the case, instead a rejuvenation is required to succeed.

Clear advantages in frost-sensitive or wet areas

- If it is exposed to frost, it will be warmer in the clearing if you have a screen of trees that take the frost.

The plants get a better microclimate.

If you fell a wet area, the water level rises.

But if, on the other hand, you save trees, they will absorb the water and locally it will not be as wet.
