The exercise lasted eight hours and Russian Tu-95 aircraft were joined by Chinese H-6K bombers.

For the first time, the Russian bombers landed on Chinese territory while Chinese planes flew to a Russian military base, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The flights were a "routine" part of military cooperation between the two countries, according to Moscow.

Military cooperation has increased after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February.

In September, China sent over 2,000 troops, 300 military vehicles and 21 warplanes, as well as three warships, to a military exercise held jointly with Russia.
