Four laundry carts with medical supplies from the surgery clinic in Västerås are on their way to Ukraine, in collaboration with Jarmo Koskela and the aid organization Operation Aid.

Nurse John de Jong, originally from the Netherlands, was the one who took the initiative for the collection.

In an email, he asked colleagues to donate materials that had expired, and soon the carts were loaded.

The region joins the national rally in support of Ukraine

- We have chosen to join the national collection for support to Ukraine, where Sweden's regions, the National Board of Health and Welfare cooperate, says Jan Hallberg, administrative director at Region Västmanland.

But Region Västmanland has so far not sent any material to Ukraine through the national collection.

But they will donate ventilators and other aids to Ukraine through an aid organization with which they have an agreement, according to Jan Hallberg.

In the clip above, nurse John talks about the operation clinic's collection.
