More than one in ten doctors have been subjected to threats or violence in the past year, according to a new report.

Among doctors who have an educational service to obtain their medical license, the percentage who have been subjected to threats or violence at work is even higher – there it is almost one in five.

It is worst among doctors who work in psychiatry or emergency care.

There, more than one in three have been affected.

Highest share in Jönköping

The figures also differ between different regions.

According to the report, the highest percentage of vulnerable doctors is in Jönköping, with 15 percent.

The smallest share is in Västerbotten, with 9 percent.

According to the Medical Association, it may be because there are local differences in how to deal with threats and violence.

The survey was sent in the spring of 2022 to all working members of the health care system, i.e. 37,521 people.

15,901 people responded, giving a response rate of 42 percent.

The response rate was approximately the same in all local associations and regions.
