A man who pretended to be a postman to defraud several elderly people was sentenced to five years in prison by the Nîmes criminal court.

The man inspired confidence and took advantage of an advantageous physique making him look younger than his age.

He accosted his victims in the Gard prefecture, alerting them to an alleged problem with their credit card.

To this end, they had to put them in an envelope with their secret code before a colleague later came to their home to pick them up.

But by a sleight of hand, he exchanged the envelope containing the card and the code for another with a gift card of 10 euros… before emptying the account of his victims.

A crook with a criminal record as long as your arm

Five women aged 87 to 92 have been victims of this man whose life is marked by scams and periods in prison: thirteen previous convictions in total for a cumulative 40 years in prison pronounced against him.

The public prosecutor had requested eight years in prison for him, the court finally sentenced him to five years in prison.
