About ten wanted persons from Sweden are staying away in Turkey, SVT can tell.

One of the suspects in the high-profile murder of 12-year-old Adriana in Botkyrka is in the country, according to SVT's information, and also the "Kurdish Fox", wanted on suspicion of several particularly serious drug crimes.

If Turkey will extradite them to Sweden, Ibrahim Kalin does not want to answer, but emphasizes that they follow legal practice and that criminals must be prosecuted.

- I cannot comment on individual cases, but our principle is that we do not protect or hide criminals, he says.

In Turkey, a political discussion is now underway where, among other things, the leader of the opposition party CHP has criticized that drug lords from other countries have sought to come to the country.

Mafia leaders have been arrested

In recent weeks, two foreign mafia bosses have been arrested in Turkey, a Montenegrin and an Italian, both wanted on suspicion of, among other things, drug smuggling.

The Montenegrin was arrested in his luxury villa in Istanbul, where he has lived since 2014.

When asked if there is a risk of international criminals seeking refuge in Turkey, he becomes irritated and provoked.

- If you imply that Turkey somehow offers these people a safe haven, and protects them here, then you have no basis whatsoever for that, says Ibrahim Kalin.
