US President Biden visited the SK Semiconductor Parts Factory in Bay City, Michigan.

During his visit to Korea last May, he had visited a Samsung semiconductor plant, but it was the first time he had been to a Korean company's plant in the United States.

President Biden emphasized that he has reduced his dependence on China by attracting semiconductor factories in Korea.

[Biden/President of the United States: SK came to the United States and produced semiconductors for computer chips, reducing its dependence on chips made abroad such as China.

It has changed the game.]

President Biden has been visiting semiconductor and automobile factories to emphasize the expansion of investment and job creation in the United States.

In particular, since key semiconductor materials produced at SK Semiconductor Plant are mainly used for electric vehicles, it seems that there is an intention to highlight the achievements of the inflation reduction law aimed at expanding eco-friendly vehicles.

In the midst of this, the director of East Asia at the White House National Security Council put forward the view that the inflation reduction law will also help South Korea, which is good at electric cars and decarbonization technologies.

[Ed Kagan/White House NSC East Asia Senior Director: Korea will be a major beneficiary of inflation reduction laws internationally.

This is because Korean companies have strengths in related core technologies.]

Senior Director Kagan also reiterated that he is effectively seeking a solution with Korea to address concerns about discrimination against Korean-made electric vehicles.
