A Palestinian was killed in an Israeli army operation in the West Bank

On Wednesday, a Palestinian was shot dead by the Israeli army during a raid near Jenin in the occupied West Bank.

The incident comes the day after a bloody day in the occupied West Bank, which resulted in the killing of five Palestinians by Israeli army bullets, including a suspect of carrying out a run-over attack, during which an Israeli soldier was wounded.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed, "the death of a citizen who succumbed to critical injuries sustained by live bullets in the chest in the town of Ya'bad," without revealing his identity.

The official Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) said that the young man was called Muhammad Tawfiq Badarneh, 25 years old.

The army said it had entered the town of Ya'bad, near Jenin, "to arrest the suspect, Abdul Ghani Herzallah."

He pointed out that he opened fire after "suspected gunmen opened fire on soldiers and threw explosive devices in the area."

On Wednesday, the US envoy for Palestinian affairs, Hadi Amr, said that the US administration is "closely following every incident that is reported every day."

"We are fully aware of the tragic loss we are witnessing in the (Palestinian) territories," he told reporters.

In the West Bank, about 475,000 settlers live on the lands of the 2.9 million Palestinians, in settlements that are illegal under international law.
