Gang criminals with debts are often active at night, and the Bailiff has previously been forced to go to the scene to confiscate valuables such as watches, jackets and cars.

But with the new law that came into effect on August 1, the police can call a manned emergency phone line at the Swedish Enforcement Agency - which is open after office hours.

- The new law with being able to seize and confiscate things remotely is something I have been asking for for 15 years and now it makes things easier, says Johannes Paulson who is the national coordinator against crime at Kronofogden.

The new law has had an enormous effect

In Sweden, the Kronofogdemyndigheten collected six times as much money between August and November this year compared to the corresponding period last year.

In Stockholm County, it is about eight times as much money in the last four-month period.

Two expensive Porsches are among the confiscations that the Kronofogden has taken from people in debt.
