An apartment in the Gårdsten district in northern Gothenburg was shot through the front door with several shots during the night of Tuesday, the police write on their website.
Inside the home were both adults and children, but no one was physically injured.
- As I understand it, there were two adults and five children.
They were sleeping on another floor in the apartment, says Morten Gunneng, officer on duty at the police to TT.
The police have opened a preliminary investigation into attempted murder and serious weapons offences.
The scene is cordoned off for a technical investigation and the police are interviewing witnesses.
Previous fatal shooting
No one is suspected or arrested.
There is also no clear picture of who the shots may have been aimed at or why, according to the police.
But Gårdsten has been hit by shootings before.
Three weeks ago, a man in his 20s was shot to death in a car in the district.
