Putin noted the great importance of the work carried out by the regional and district courts to recognize the facts of the genocide of civilians during the Great Patriotic War.

He said that the collection of evidence about the atrocities and crimes of the Nazis continues.

“And henceforth, every such fact must be given a legal, judicial assessment,” the president said.

Putin took part in the X All-Russian Congress of Judges.

Earlier, the prosecutor's office of the Stavropol Territory filed an application with the court to recognize the actions of the Nazis in the region during the Great Patriotic War as genocide of the peoples of the USSR.

The St. Petersburg City Court recognized the actions of the Nazis during the blockade of Leningrad as a war crime and genocide of the Soviet people.
