"A debate will be organized between the three orientation texts as I proposed on behalf of Olivier Faure this morning in the organizing committee of the congress of the socialist party which acted on it", announced one of the door -spokesman of the PS, Pierre Jouvet, on twitter.

Hélène Geoffroy, historical opponent of Olivier Faure, supported in particular by the "elephants" of the PS, like the mayor of Le Mans Stéphane Le Foll, had called on Monday for such a debate to be held "televised or broadcast via a digital platform".

According to her, it will contribute "to enhancing the democratic nature of our political formation, to strengthening its visibility, to encouraging the mobilization and participation of our activists around the issues of this congress, but also to allow as many people as possible to learn about the proposals of the three candidates".

Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, supported by the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo and relatives of the president of the Occitanie region Carole Delga, also felt that there was a need for “debates between the three candidates. I am ready for it. request," he said on twitter, explaining that "the absence of debates is not the least of the reasons why so many people have left the socialist party".

The modalities of such a debate have yet to be defined.

The three candidates submitted their orientation text to a national council on Saturday, which will be submitted to the vote of the members on January 12.

A second vote, on January 19, will decide between the two remaining candidates, before a congress on the 25th in Marseille.
