A series of deficiencies emerged after Ivo's inspection of Central Hospital Växjö in September this year.

The shortcomings were considered particularly serious in the emergency room, and therefore Ivo released that part of the report earlier than expected.

Now the rest of the criticism decision has arrived, and there are more remarks.

Ivo notes that:

The care provider has not ensured that the hospital has available care places based on the actual need within somatic specialist care, which means that patients have suffered and are at risk of suffering care injuries and serious care injuries because:

  • patients do not always have their needs for supervision, care, medicine and nutrition met.

Nursing shortage

According to Ivo, the shortage of care places is due to a lack of nurses, which has caused overcrowding in the care wards.

During interviews with doctors, it emerged that planned operations have had to be canceled or postponed as an effect of a lack of space in the care wards.

At the end of September, the hospital went into staff mode and patients were sent from Växjö to Ljungby, due to the staff shortage.

Must report measures

Florence Eddysson Hägg, hospital director, has not taken part in the new criticism when SVT reaches her on Tuesday afternoon.

The management now has until January 25, 2023 to report measures for the shortcomings that Ivo pointed out.
