Following Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, Germany, which is in a hurry to break away from dependence on Russian natural gas, will receive a long-term supply of LNG (liquefied natural gas) from Qatar in the Middle East for the first time.

Qatar Energy, the state-owned energy company of Qatar, announced this at a press conference on the 29th.



Qatar Energy will supply Germany with up to 2 million tonnes of LNG annually for 15 years from 2026.



Russia accounted for 55% of Germany's natural gas imports, but after the military invasion of Ukraine, Germany launched a policy to break away from its dependence on Russia, and has been working with Qatar, one of the world's leading exporters, to supply it. I was.



According to German media, it will be the first long-term supply for Germany, and it is a step forward towards breaking away from energy dependence on Russia.
