Kyiv Investment Forum in Brussels: 'We need changes'

The seventh kyiv economic forum was held this year in Brussels, with the main concern being the reconstruction of the Ukrainian capital.

Due to the recent bombings of kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko did not make the trip and spoke by videoconference during this meeting which was intended as a first step towards the future reconstruction of the city.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko was ultimately unable to leave kyiv, but was represented by his brother Volodymyr for this meeting with his counterparts from Paris, Brussels, Helsinki or Sarajevo.

More than fifteen European cities were represented.

They undertook to communicate to each other all the means to support kyiv in its needs.

The most urgent needs, such as the generators sent by the city of Brussels in recent weeks, but also the needs for long-term investments for reconstruction.

In a humorous tone, Vitali Klitschko insists on attracting investors to his city, with the help of his brother, a former boxer like him: "

I am ready (with my brother) to be the bodyguard of success of your businesses in our city.

We need it.

We need successes, we need changes.

We need new jobs.

We need taxes.

We need a European standard of living.

And I see our unity and our plans this day, if we implement them, we will succeed!

A metro renovation project has now been launched, but the needs will be immense with hundreds of infrastructure projects to be rebuilt;

the mayor of kyiv points out that his fellow citizens have already set to work and that three quarters of the businesses closed after the Russian offensive have now reopened.
