The government announced today (29th) that "if those who refuse to transport goods in the cement sector do not return, we will respond sternly in accordance with the law and principles."

Right after the cabinet meeting this morning, the government held a joint briefing of the ministries related to the collective transport refusal of the cargo solidarity and announced this.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho said, "At today's cabinet meeting, we deliberated and voted on an order to resume work for those who refused to transport goods in the cement sector in order to prevent a serious crisis that would result in the national economy and break the vicious cycle of illegal collective actions."

He said, "When we need to join forces to overcome the economic crisis, the cargo unions hold people's livelihoods and the national economy hostage in order to fulfill their unjustified demands, halting logistics and shaking the industrial foundation." If we do not do this and neglect the difficulties of people's livelihood, logistics and industry, it will be impossible to overcome the economic crisis and there will be no future for the Republic of Korea."

Deputy Prime Minister Chu emphasized, "According to the issuance of the business start order, transport operators and transport workers in the cement sector must withdraw their refusal to transport and immediately return to transport business." .

"If you do not return to the transportation business without justifiable reasons, you may be subject to suspension of operation and suspension of qualifications, as well as imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 30 million won," he explained.

Deputy Prime Minister Chu said, "We will respond firmly in accordance with the law and principles to other illegal acts of the cargo union."

“Considering the grave situation in which all citizens must come together to overcome the economic crisis, we urge the Cargo Solidarity to immediately withdraw its collective transport refusal and return to the field,” he said.
