Anneli Iivari has been in a wheelchair for more than 20 years and had high hopes when the center moved from the southern slopes of the low mountains of Haukivaara to the flat forest land three kilometers to the east.
But in the malls it turned out to be much worse.
- I have been waiting to be able to go there alone, but it was a surprise, she says.
"Obviously big obstacles"
Especially in Attan's mall, there is a ramp that she herself cannot climb over.
Mats Taaveniku (S), Gunnar Selberg (C), Sten Nylén (Sjvp) and Kristoffer Johansson from Kirunabostäder, however, managed to fight their way up.
- When you sit in a wheelchair, it becomes quite obvious that there are major obstacles, says incoming municipal councilor Mats Taaveniku.
See when the politicians test the wheelchairs
According to Anneli Iivari, there are mandatory rules in the Housing Authority's regulations that state that there should be no level differences when building new buildings unless there are ground conditions that require it.
