Jeans dealers are literally on every corner.

But this one is special.

Its name already shows that: it's called ByteMyStork and has a stork in its logo.

Just: What is that supposed to mean?

The managing partner Marco Rahn, who runs the shop together with his wife Barbara in the middle of Bad Vilbel, answers with a mental triple jump.

The stork is a symbol of contemporary success in nature conservation.

When he jogs near the spring town, he sees two dozen of these birds in the summer.

There wasn't anything like it ten years ago.

The byte stands for the conviction that technology is a key to better nature conservation and sustainability, says the former IT consultant.

Together with "My" resulted in a "phonetically funny name", ultimately a play on words.

The fact that a customer misinterpreted this play on words and thought of a store for maternity wear, as Barbara Rahn explains - for free.

But the name and logo are one thing, the offer is another, which stands out from the mass of jeans ranges.

Because the couple only sells goods made from organic cotton or recycled denim, as Marco Rahn points out.

In the case of recycled materials, the industry differentiates between "pre-consumer" and "post-consumer".

In the first case, it is leftovers like those processed by the Kuyichi brand, in the second case it is goods made from fabrics that have already been worn.

If a manufacturer uses such fabrics, small colored inclusions will appear - depending on whether the denim was lighter or darker.

A pair of jeans for life

The range includes twelve brands.

Most of the customers who are very fond of jeans should probably not say anything - this thesis is daring.

Among them are D-Side from Heidelberg, Feuervogl from Großostheim, Torland from Vienna and Ruttloff from Dresden, Blaumann from Langenburg and Bloomers from Emsland.

The most expensive model in the business comes from Ruttloff from Dresden, a one-man operation.

It costs 365 euros.

Anyone who tends to gasp should watch the piece.

Such attention to detail is not to be seen in ready-made jeans.

As the pants look, they are a part for life.

At the other end of the price scale, there are Tunisia-made Bloomers jeans.

It starts at just under 80 euros.

In between there are trousers from Goodsociety, formerly founded in the USA and now in Hamburg hands, and overalls made from Japanese denim.

At Bloomers, on the other hand, Rahn is currently having prototypes for his own brand of jeans produced.

In the far north.

Incidentally, the originally designed shop has sewing machines.

They don't stand there as decoration: the Rahns rather shorten jeans bought from them at the customer's request.

Free of charge.
