The United States will provide $53 million to support Ukraine's power grid, which is facing a flurry of attacks from Russia.

As specified, the funding will go to the "acquisition of critical power grid equipment", which will be "urgently delivered to Ukraine."

The aid package will include distribution transformers, circuit breakers, surge arresters, disconnectors, vehicles and "other key equipment," the State Department said.

The funds will add to the $55 million already allocated for emergency support to the country's energy sector.
