Biden follows up on China's protests...and supportive gatherings in the United States

The White House announced that US President Joe Biden is closely following the demonstrations in China, as protesters demand an end to the closure measures related to combating Covid-19, while marches took place in solidarity with the protesters in the United States.

The statements come after hundreds took to the streets in several major Chinese cities over the weekend, and US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters: "President Biden is following developments closely, and so are we."

Kirby refused to disclose Biden's position on the demands raised by the demonstrators, saying that the president would not speak on behalf of the demonstrators around the world.

They speak for themselves, but he nonetheless stressed US support for the rights of the demonstrators, while rallies took place on the campus of Columbia University in New York and at Duke University in North Carolina, in support of the Chinese demonstrators.
