A 32-year-old man died on Tuesday morning after jumping from the Millau viaduct (Aveyron) while doing base jumping.

The circumstances of the death of this man, during this 200 m high jump from the viaduct which overlooks the Tarn, are not yet known.

Alerted at 8:30 a.m., the Aveyron firefighters could only see his death.

The town of Millau, in the south of Aveyron, is particularly popular with extreme sports enthusiasts, despite a ban on skydiving from the viaduct, issued by the prefecture in May 2022.

Base jumping is a thrilling sport consisting of jumping into space from a platform (bridge, building, cliff, etc.) before opening your parachute.
