“We were looking forward to the start of consultations, because we believe in the importance of START III,” Kirby was quoted as saying at the briefing by RIA Novosti.
According to him, Washington intends to work with Moscow through the embassy in order to "understand what happened and return to the schedule as soon as possible."
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the postponement of the session of the commission of Russia and the United States on START in Cairo.
Later, the State Department announced its readiness to conduct negotiations with Russia on START "as soon as possible."
