Center party members Rickard Nordin and Niels Paarup-Petersen want to make it easier for landowners to move stone piles that are older than a year - something that is currently prohibited due to biotope protection.

- Today's rules are completely insane.

They have not understood how reality works for our farmers and foresters, says Rickard Nordin (C), who is climate and energy policy spokesperson for the Center Party.

SVT Nyheter Småland has previously told about, among others, the farmer Viveka Fransson outside Växjö and her criticism that she was not allowed to move a cairn on her land.

Want to make it easier to move the stones

There are heaps of stones in various places in the countryside all over the country.

Many of them are inappropriately located and need to be moved.

What Rickard Nordin and Niels Paarup-Pedersen want to achieve with their motion is that these rock piles should be able to be moved even after a longer time than two years.

At the same time, biological diversity is important, according to Rickard Nordin(C):

- It is incredibly important to protect biological diversity.

Therefore, stone walls and stone fenced yards that have existed on the site for a long time must still be included in the biotope protection.

But to classify a rock pile as protected after just one year is unreasonable for the businesses.
