• CHRONICLE 'Los Castaña', a money laundering machine

The Provincial Court of Cádiz in its section of Algeciras has acquitted all members of the 'Los Castaña' clan

, led by traffickers from La Línea de la Concepción

Francisco and Antonio Tejón

, of belonging to a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking.

, with the exception of the latter, who is sentenced

to three years and one month in prison for a crime against public health.

The sentence, to which EL MUNDO has access, separates all of them from

two caches of hashish intercepted by the police forces in April and August 2016

(of 1,500 kilos of drugs in total).

"No link has been proven"

of the defendants with said merchandise, the ruling states.

On the other hand, the eldest of

the Castañas

,

Isco

Tejón

, who on October 3 of that year, during a search of his house, found

5.1 kilos

of

chocolate

"for distribution to third parties" is sentenced.

Among those acquitted,

a total of 15,

is one of the leaders of the organization,

Antonio Tejón

, who is in prison for another case that is pending trial and in which he is accused of leading a drug trafficking organization

made up of more than 150 members.

Mohamed Said Ouardani

, the supposed

accountant

of the clan, is

also exonerated ;

the brother-in-law of both leaders and who was pointed out as the alleged organizer of the caches,

Francisco Arroyo Najarro

, or three police officers (two nationals and one local from La Línea de la Concepción), whom the Prosecutor's Office considered

as active members of the alleged gang.

On the other hand, the sentence recognizes the validity of the telephone interventions carried out by the National Police on the defendants during the investigation,

despite the attempts of their lawyers to annul them

during the oral trial.

The lawyer of one of the main members of the clan has pointed out to this newspaper shortly after the sentence was known:

"It is not a victory, it is justice."
