BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) According to a Reuters report on the 28th, the Pentagon of the United States is considering a proposal from Boeing to provide Ukraine with cheap small precision bombs to help the Ukrainian army improve its ability to strike behind the Russian defense line.

According to reports, as the Russia-Ukraine situation continues, Ukraine's demand for more advanced weapons is increasing, but the arms inventory of the United States and its allies is decreasing.

Boeing's proposal to supply Ukraine with the "Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB)" is one of six plans to produce new munitions for Ukraine and the US' Eastern European allies, the sources said.

It is reported that GLSDB can use GPS navigation system and prevent electronic jamming, is suitable for all weather conditions, and can also deal with armored vehicles.

The GLSDB has a range of 94 miles (approximately 150 kilometers), enabling the Ukrainian army to strike military targets behind the Russian army, disrupt the area behind the Russian army, and help the Ukrainian army continue to advance counterattacks.

GLSDB could be delivered as early as spring 2023.

It combines a GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) with an M26 rocket motor, both of which are commonly found in US arsenals.

The stock of M26 rockets in the United States is relatively sufficient, while the GBU-39 is relatively cheap at $40,000 each, and its main components are relatively easy to obtain.

"The Army is also looking at accelerating construction of the 155mm shell by allowing defense contractors to do so," said Doug Bush, the Army's chief weapons purchaser.

He added that the situation in Ukraine had boosted demand for U.S.-made weapons and ammunition, while U.S. allies in Eastern Europe were "placed large orders" for a range of weapons to supply Ukraine.
