On Thursday, November 24, the day before Black Friday in France, the collective Le noise qui court organized at the forum des Halles – the largest shopping center in Paris – a happening aimed at “denouncing the impact of Black Friday and the overconsumption on the environment.

Clothing "abused" in a festive atmosphere

To deliver this message, the ten committed artists and activists presented an artistic performance combining dance and music during which a ton of clothing was thrown, turned over and “abused” for about thirty minutes.

For a member of the collective, it was important to act and raise awareness around these big marketing events, dangerous for the planet and the environment because "today, the figures say that we wear on average seven times a garment that we bought.

And clothing consumption has doubled in twenty years, which is huge!

Me, I have clothes that belonged to my grandmothers, who are fifty years old and they are in very good condition”.

“Accra is the open-air dustbin of European textiles”

This happening is part of the fight of the international NGO The Or Foundation which denounces the export of clothes from Western countries to Ghana: "All these clothes, they end up somewhere in Accra, which has become a bit of a garbage can in European textile open sky.

Ghanaians receive tons and tons of clothes there every week, mainly from our wardrobes!
