• Society The Family Law will guarantee a five-day paid leave to care for relatives

The disagreements between the

PSOE

and

Unidas Podemos

have forced

in extremis

a new delay of the Family Law promoted by the Ministry of Social Rights, despite the fact that last Thursday the department headed by

Ione Belarra

announced that the norm was going to be approved this Tuesday in the Council of Ministers.

Throughout this Monday, negotiations between socialists and

purples

have taken place to close the last pending issues, however, the passing of hours has not resolved the existing differences within the coalition government, for which reason Minister

Félix Bolaños

has made the decision to postpone the law for at least one more week.

The news broke shortly before midnight, after the Ministry of the Presidency, from the PSOE, informed Derechos Sociales, from Unidas Podemos, that the Family Law was finally falling from this Council of Ministers.

Sources from the Ministry of Social Rights are "concerned" by the "constant delays" that the law is chaining and that they blame on the "socialist wing" of the Government.

It should be remembered that some of the main points of the Family Law were agreed between the partners during the negotiations of the General State Budget, which culminated in the first week of October.

Then, in addition to the depth of certain measures contained in the law, it was agreed that it should be approved at the latest before the end of October.

That hasn't happened.

Now, at the earliest, it can aspire to be approved at the beginning of December, since both the months of October and November have been a permanent tug of war between the partners to reach a definitive agreement.

Last Thursday Social Rights announced some of the star measures of the Family Law.

The most innovative thing is that a paid leave of five days a year will be created to attend to relatives up to the second degree or cohabitants.

In addition, the Ministry of Belarra said that there will be a leave of eight weeks a year so that parents can take care of their children until the minor is eight years old.

It can be enjoyed continuously or discontinuously.

But this permission will not be remunerated in any case.

Another of the measures announced was the extension of the parenting income of 100 euros per month for each dependent child under three years of age, which until now was only limited to working mothers.

The income will now be extended to people with minor children who are or have been in Social Security or mutual benefit for 30 days or who have received a contributory or assistance benefit from the unemployment protection system.

This help is until the child reaches the age of three.

Beyond permits, the Family Law extends the benefits of large families, because it will begin to consider single-parent families with two children as such.

Also, and this is a novelty, it will happen with families with two children in which an ascendant or descendant has a disability and in families with two children headed by a victim of gender violence or by a spouse who has obtained guardianship and custody. exclusive without the right to alimony.

For all these measures, sources from the Ministry of Social Rights regret the new delay and claim that the rule is "very urgent" for Spanish families, since "currently they do not receive all the support they need, neither for conciliation nor for upbringing ".
