An investigation has been opened for injuries resulting in the death of a minor under the age of 15, after the death of an infant in Angers (Maine-et-Loire), last Monday.

As our colleagues from

Ouest-France

report , the 3-month-old baby was found in cardiorespiratory arrest by the police and firefighters, then taken to hospital where he finally succumbed to his injuries last Thursday.

The 22-year-old mother was arrested and taken into custody.

She would have implicated her companion, who would not be the father of the infant.

According to the public prosecutor of Angers, Eric Bouillard, quoted by the daily, the child bore traces of violence and was the victim of shaken baby syndrome.

The man remanded in custody

The explanations provided by the couple would not have convinced the investigators.

The mother and her companion were referred to the prosecution.

If the young woman was left free under judicial supervision, the man was placed in pre-trial detention.
