After five decades of Social Democratic rule, it was clear after the election that Örnsköldsvik municipality received a historic new government in the form of the Örnsköldsvik Alliance, which includes the Center Party, the Moderates and the Christian Democrats.

But the budget did not go through - a completely new situation for the municipal council.
