Yesterday, Sunday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan revealed the details of a meeting he had with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, mediated by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Erdogan said that the bilateral meeting that took place with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, mediated by the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha, was aimed at ending a 9-year rupture between Ankara and Cairo.

During his meeting with formations from the ruling Justice and Development Party, the Turkish president made it clear that, "With the mediation of the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, we took a step to remove a estrangement that lasted for 9 years, and that evening I met bilaterally with Mr. Sisi for 30 to 45 minutes."

He added, "We agreed with him that the meetings would take place at the level of ministers, and after that we would raise the level of meetings and develop them. I told him that Turkey is interested in removing the estrangement and disagreement with Egypt, and that there is no problem between us in the White Sea. We also discussed many different issues in the bilateral meeting between us in Qatar."

Erdogan stressed the importance of the ties between Turkey and the Egyptian people in the Mediterranean, stressing that the space should not be given in this regard to other parties such as Greece.

"So I think there will be good developments," he added.

The Turkish president said he later learned that Sisi "was very happy with the meeting".

Syria and the Gulf

In a related context, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his belief that Turkish-Syrian relations may improve, just as his country's relations with Egypt and the Gulf states have improved, stressing that politics does not tolerate estrangement.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed the possibility of returning things to normal in relations with Syria, "as happened with Egypt."

Erdogan indicated that resolving the differences between Turkey and the Gulf states "spoiled the conspiracies that were being hatched."

He stressed that the relations between Turkey and the United Arab Emirates have become very good.
