Documents taken from the British National Archives, published by the Digital Archive of the Arabian Gulf, dated the period before the founding of the federation, through its establishment, and until the start of the economic renaissance in the United Arab Emirates.

On July 18, 1971, the rulers of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, and Fujairah delivered a statement announcing the establishment of the United Arab Emirates and the interim constitution. During the period from the first to the ninth of August of the same year, the Six Emirates Conference was held to discuss aspects of the constitution of the United Arab Emirates. and all relevant legal frameworks.

A document dated September 2, 1971 included the proposed UAE mission to the Gulf and the Arab countries, while the English-language newspaper “Abu Dhabi News” published on September 30, 1971 the Arab foreign ministers’ declaration of their support for the union, as the news included the return of the Minister of State for Prime Minister Affairs at the time, Ahmed Khalifa Al-Suwaidi, to the country after a visit at the head of an Emirati delegation to a number of countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran and the Arab countries of North Africa, aimed at explaining the objectives and principles of the federation, and discussing developments in the Gulf region and the steps to be implemented in the context of establishing the federation, which was approved and supported by those officials Countries.

A document issued on November 24, 1971 clarified the provisional program for Union Day, as it included: a welcome opening speech from the Ruler of Dubai, then approval of the agenda, followed by the signing of the notification of the entry into force of the Constitution, then the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Federation to choose the President and his deputy and take the oath, then Choosing the Prime Minister and submitting a letter with the proposals of the Ministers.

After the meeting of the Supreme Council, flag-raising ceremonies and announcing the country's national day will be held, then the rulers will approve an official holiday for celebrations on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays (December 3-5).

On the first of December 1971, the British Political Resident in the Gulf, Sir Geoffrey Arthur, exchanged letters with the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, may God rest his soul, regarding the termination of the treaty relations between the United Kingdom and the Emirate of Dubai.

On the second of December 1971, a letter sent by Jeffrey Arthur to Britain chronicled the establishment of the state and the declaration of the establishment of the federation of the six emirates, where the rulers of the six emirates met and elected (Ruler of Abu Dhabi) as president and (Ruler of Dubai) as vice president. After taking the oath, the rulers decided to choose Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Prime Minister.

After discussing policy towards the United Kingdom, the Supreme Council authorized the President of the State to sign a friendship treaty with London, adding that he went to Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Palace in Jumeirah with a number of officials to sign the treaty.

On December 6, 1971, Ambassador C.G. Treadwell presented his credentials to the President of the State at Al-Manhal Palace, as the first British ambassador to the UAE.

On the ninth of December, the United Arab Emirates became the 132nd member of the United Nations.

The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan also appointed the ministers of the first government;

On September 22, 1972, the UAE became the 124th member of the International Monetary Fund and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
