“Sanctions on the export of fertilizers from Russia increased the cost of fertilizers in Namibia by more than 50%, ultimately increasing the cost of production and, as a result, led to a high price for food,” he told RIA Novosti.
On November 15, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the current fertilizer shortage problem could trigger a catastrophic food crisis.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Mikhail Ivanov allowed a 10% reduction in exports of Russian fertilizers.
