For 48 years, the Social Democrats ruled Lycksele.
Four years ago, the party lost power to the bourgeois parties and Christian Democrat Roland Sjögren became one of two municipal councillors.
In the autumn elections, there was yet another loss and four more years of wandering in the desert for the Social Democrats.
