Japan's proposed "Furyu Odori," a folk performing art that dances to music such as Bon Odori, will be deliberated on the 30th, and it is expected that it will be officially registered.

The intergovernmental committee of UNESCO = United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which protects traditional culture and performing arts around the world, started in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, on the 28th, and 46 proposals from each country for registration as intangible cultural heritage. deliberating.



Of these, Japan has proposed the Furyu Odori, a folk performing art that is danced to accompaniment to musical accompaniment, such as Bon Odori, which has been handed down in various places.



"Furyu Odori" consists of a total of 41 events, including Kanagawa's traditional event "Chakkirako," which was registered as an intangible cultural heritage in 2009, and 40 events from 24 prefectures.



Among them are the Nishimonai no Bon Odori from Akita Prefecture, where elegant dances are performed, the Kansui Kake Odori, a traditional drum dance from Gifu Prefecture, and the Tsushima Bon Odori from Nagasaki Prefecture.



On the 1st of this month, the UNESCO evaluation body recommended that "Furyu Odori" be registered as an intangible cultural heritage, and the committee will deliberate on the 30th of this month, and it is expected that the registration will be officially decided.



From Japan, a total of 22 items such as "Washoku" and "Washi" have been registered as intangible cultural heritage so far.
