Turkish Vice President Fuad Oktay said that contacts between Ankara and Cairo are continuing in order to normalize relations within the framework of interests and mutual respect.

Oktay stressed - in a speech before the Budget Committee of the Turkish Parliament - that the recent geopolitical transformations in the Middle East were reflected in the approaches of the countries of the region as well.

He added that the Turkish position of giving priority to regional cooperation resulted in opening a new era in bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Israel.

And the Turkish Vice President indicated that at the present time our contacts with Egypt continue to normalize relations, and we will continue to do whatever is required by the interests of our country and our people.

And last Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described his meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi - on the sidelines of the opening of the 2022 Qatar World Cup - as a first step taken in order to launch a new path between the two countries.

The Egyptian presidency also published a statement confirming that the two presidents agreed that their meeting in Doha would be the beginning of the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
