Ninety years ago, a ceremony was held in Tokyo to remember the millions of people who fell victim to a famine in the former Soviet Union of Ukraine.

Ukraine was hit by a great famine from 1932 to the following year during the former Soviet era, and millions of people are said to have died. It's called the Holodomor.

Since the 4th Saturday of November every year is a day to mourn the victims of "Holodomor", a memorial service was held at a church in Tokyo on the 26th.

The ceremony was attended by more than 70 people, including Ukrainians who had evacuated to Japan after the military invasion by Russia began in February.

Amid the prayers of the clergy, participants occasionally made crosses in front of their chests to mourn the victims of the "Holodomor" and military invasions.

Ukrainian ambassador to Japan Korsunsky, who participated, said, "The same kind of military aggression happened 90 years ago, and this is not the first time that Russia has attacked Ukraine. We must do our best until we win." I have to,” he said.

Also, a former Ukrainian soldier who came to Japan in May said, "For Ukrainians, this is a very important day, so we participate every year. We pray for victory."
