Cody Gakpo

's second consecutive goal was not enough for the Netherlands

to overcome a tough Ecuador, capable of snatching a 1-1 draw.

The South American goal bears the signature of the usual

Enner Valencia

, who repeats himself after the brace on his debut, thus taking the top of the scorers chart with 3 goals (then even forced to go out on a stretcher).

Ecuadorians also stopped by a pole.

A disappointing Holland is saved with Ecuador.

Orange struggling and being hunted after the goal of the advantage that deludes them.

The South Americans, on the other hand, make a great impression, grab the opponent by the collar, score two goals (one disallowed), stamp a crossbar and dominate for large stretches of the match so much so that, in the end, the 1-1 is fine for the Oranges .

The result, among other things, mathematically eliminates Qatar, given that the two teams lead group A with 4 points and the hosts remain 0 with only one match to play, while Senegal is still in the running with 3 points .

Ready to go and after not even six laps from the kick-off, the Orange team immediately took the lead with the second consecutive goal from an inspired Gakpo, good at guessing the left-footed player from the edge of the box which is worth 1-0.

Once the goal has been conceded, the South Americans try to react with character, trying to raise the center of gravity and bring pressure to the opposing half of the field;

instead the Dutch aim immediately to put the match to sleep by trying to command ball possession.

In the 32nd minute Ecuador created a great opportunity with Valencia, who concentrated on the right and let go of a poisonous shot which was very well blocked by Noppert.

Right after the interval, Alfaro's team would equalize with Estupinan following the development of a corner, but an active offside position by Porozo was punished on his deflection in the scrum.

1-1 which however arrives at the beginning of the second half with the tap-in of the usual Valencia, who puts in from two steps after Noppert's rejection on Estupinan's left-handed.

The game risks turning upside down and in the 59th minute Ecuador even comes close to overturning it, hitting a sensational crossbar with a wonderful left-footed shot from Plata.

Holland can't shake it off and struggles to bring new dangers to Galindez's area, while the Ecuadorians continue to fight in the middle of the field: as the minutes go by, the pace slows down a lot and the two teams give the feeling of being satisfied with the tie.

So the 1-1 resists the triple whistle.
