"69 percent of our members state that they have been exposed to direct or indirect threats in their work as social workers.

That in itself is a threat to open and democratic Sweden".

That's what Akademikerförbundet SSR's chairman Heike Erkers and union director Lars Holmberg write in a debate article in Aftonbladet.

Incites acts of violence

Recently, SVT was able to reveal that the campaign against social services has spread to more areas, including Tiktok.

In a video published on the social media platform that SVT has seen, a father of a child in care is encouraged to commit direct acts of violence.

In another video, where threats are directed at social services in Gothenburg, a man says in Arabic that he received information about some people who bought weapons and explosives "to kill those responsible".

Social services in Gothenburg have reported the incident to the police.

Requires police assistance

Now the Academic Union SSR demands that the government and Riksdag take measures to secure the work of social service employees.

The demands that are made are, among other things, that social workers must be included in the legislation on sabotage against blue-light operations, and that the police must be present when the social service deems it necessary in the execution of decisions.

They also want to appoint a safety commission.
