The beginning of winter for Ukraine turned out to be “terrible,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference on the eve of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the alliance countries, which will be held on November 29-30 in Bucharest.

According to him, "waves of missile strikes" by the Russian military have deprived Ukrainians of heat, light and food.

“This is a terrible start to winter for Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said, adding that Europe and the rest of the world are also facing “hard times” amid rising energy and food prices.

The day before, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported some details about a massive air, sea and land-based long-range precision weapon that was inflicted on the military command and control system of Ukraine and related energy facilities.

It was noted that as a result of the destruction of designated facilities, the transfer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reserves, foreign weapons, military equipment and ammunition to the combat areas by rail was disrupted.

The department emphasized that not a single blow was delivered to targets within the boundaries of Kyiv.

According to the Ministry of Defense, all the declared destruction in the Ukrainian capital was the result of the fall of missiles of foreign and Ukrainian air defense systems, which are located in residential areas of the city.

In turn, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, during a conversation with reporters on November 24, said that Russia does not strike at social facilities as part of a special operation in Ukraine.

“The special military operation is fulfilling its tasks.

There were no strikes on social facilities, and no.

Special attention is being paid to this,” he said.

The Kremlin spokesman added that targets that are directly or indirectly related to the military potential of Ukraine are subject to defeat.

Peskov also noted that the leadership of Ukraine has every opportunity to bring the situation back to normal and stop the possible suffering of the civilian population.

Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova drew attention to the statement of the wife of the Ukrainian president, Olena Zelenskaya, who stated that Ukrainians are ready to endure life without heat in their homes for two or three years, if they see the prospect of the country joining the EU.

According to Zelenskaya, a certain survey was conducted on this subject, in which more than 90% of respondents spoke accordingly.

“The survey was apparently conducted in a bunker where snow falls regularly,” Zakharova wrote.

Earlier, Volodymyr Kudrytsky, chairman of the board of the national energy company Ukrenergo, said that a mechanism for importing electricity from Europe is being developed.

According to him, special mechanisms are needed to ensure such imports, since the price of electricity in Europe is higher than the price in Ukraine.

Vladimir Bruter, an expert at the International Institute for Humanitarian and Political Studies, believes that now Stoltenberg will ask the United States and Europe to help Ukraine with money so that it “does not remain without electricity” (the European Commission had already asked the EU countries to send high-voltage transformers and generators to Ukraine).

“They are already saying that they will supply fuel oil and generators now.

He will show his usefulness on this, and perhaps NATO will earn something from this, ”said the source of RT.

At the same time, the expert is of the opinion that Kyiv has not been a party to the conflict for a long time, since all key decisions are made in the West, which also fully controls military formations.

Commenting on the position on Ukraine outlined by the NATO Secretary General, political scientist Oleksandr Dudchak said that Ukraine is “on the rails” of the conflict and will not turn anywhere.

According to him, if it weren’t for NATO and Western “desires to make war with Russia by proxy”, then Ukraine would live “in warmth, comfort and with stable economic development.”

“After the real damage caused to the infrastructure, there were only a few dead, and that was due to the fault of the air defense of Ukraine.

If it were not for air defense systems, no one would have suffered from civilians at all.

But everything that happens is not the fault of Russia, but of Washington and Brussels, ”the expert said in a conversation with RT.

He is of the opinion that the NATO Secretary General has no pity or sympathy for Ukraine: “They don’t care about her problems, they agree to continue.”
