When it became apparent that the suspect could be in the Rhine-Main area, the investigators tracked down the man in Frankfurt.

Special forces arrested him there.

Investigators searched the accused’s apartments in Frankfurt and Kelsterbach, and according to the LKA they secured evidence.

The relationship between the thirty-five-year-old and the dead man is currently unclear.

The accused is in custody.

Cocaine smuggled into Germany

Another arrest was made by Hessian target investigators in the Republic of Moldova.

There, on behalf of the Darmstadt public prosecutor's office, they tracked down a 34-year-old suspected drug dealer who was wanted by an arrest warrant.

The man is accused of dealing in large quantities with drugs, mainly cocaine, for more than ten years.

In the summer of 2021, the accused was identified as a suspected participant in a crypto chat in connection with an investigation by the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse, according to a spokeswoman for the LKA.

According to the findings so far, the accused is said to have been involved in bringing narcotics with a total weight of more than 100 kilograms to Germany.

He is also said to have brokered encrypted mobile phones.

Based on the evaluation of travel movements and digital traces, the investigators were able to understand that the man had traveled from Brussels to Chisinau in June of this year.

In cooperation with the Federal Criminal Police Office, the suspect was finally observed.

The arrest finally succeeded when he wanted to get into his wife's vehicle.

He is currently in extradition custody.

In the words of LKA President Andreas Röhrig, both cases showed "how essential a well-functioning international network is for successful police work".
