China News Agency, Beijing, November 22 (Yang Chengchen, Zhu He, Chen Jianxin) The heads of state of China and the United States held a meeting in Bali a few days ago. The United States made a statement of "five nos" and "four no intentions".

At a Taiwan-related seminar held on the 22nd, Huang Qingxian and other cross-strait scholars said that the space for the DPP authorities to seek "independence" by relying on foreign countries will become increasingly narrow.

Compared with the previous "four nos and one unintentional" statement, US President Biden stated in this meeting: "The United States respects China's system, does not seek to change China's system, does not seek a 'new cold war', and does not seek to oppose China by strengthening allies. China does not support 'Taiwan independence', nor does it support 'two Chinas' or 'one China, one Taiwan', and has no intention of conflicting with China. The United States has no intention of seeking to 'decouple' from China, has no intention of obstructing China's economic development, and has no intention of enclosing China. .”

The Fifth Symposium on "National Unification and National Rejuvenation" was held in Wuhan on the 22nd.

Huang Qingxian, a professor at the Zhou Enlai School of Government at Nankai University, said that during the recent multilateral summits held in Indonesia and Thailand, leaders of many countries or international organizations expressed their support for the one-China principle when talking about the Taiwan issue.

Biden also stated that the US's one-China policy has not changed, and that it does not support "Taiwan independence" or "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan".

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also stated that the commitments made by the Japanese side in the Japan-China Joint Statement have not changed at all.

This shows that the space for the DPP authorities to rely on foreign countries for "independence" is shrinking, and "Taiwan does not have much time left to avoid cross-strait reunification."

Tang Xinwei, an associate professor of the Department of Political Science at National Taiwan University, said in a video speech that Biden proposed the "five nos" and "four no intentions" this time, showing his intention to repair bilateral relations.

He believes that after this statement, it will be more difficult for the US to ask other countries and regions to join the camp of containing mainland China.

Wang Gaocheng, a professor at the Institute of International Affairs and Strategy at Tamkang University, said that the meeting between Xi Jinping and Biden shows that China and the United States have a consensus on the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait situation, and neither side will allow "Taiwan independence" forces to destroy the status quo.

He said that to resolve the Taiwan issue, the most beneficial way for people on both sides of the strait is to resolve differences peacefully.

Xiong Xing, a researcher at the Institute of Regional and National Studies of Hubei University, pointed out that the United States has promised China the "four nos and one no intentions" in the past, but one of the China policies tends to be blurred.

Judging from the development trend of the island's politics and the international situation, Sino-US relations and cross-strait relations will still face some uncertainties in the next few years.

In the process of promoting reunification, external forces led by the United States may not give up playing the "Taiwan card."

Yuan Zheng, deputy director of the American Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that the U.S. government has two sides on the Taiwan issue, and "(future) policy swings will become more obvious."

On that day, nearly a hundred scholars from both sides of the Taiwan Strait engaged in research on the Taiwan issue and cross-strait relations participated in the seminar.
