Yemeni government: Militias targeting oil facilities represents a serious escalation

Yesterday evening, the Houthi militia launched a terrorist attack on the Al-Dhaba oil port in Hadramout Governorate, while a commercial ship was moored at the port, in an explicit threat to international shipping.

According to the official Saba agency, the Yemeni government confirmed that the repeated terrorist attacks on civilian facilities and objects represent a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, and a blatant disregard for the disastrous humanitarian, environmental and economic repercussions.

Yemeni sources reported that the leadership of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense and the field commanders of combat units and the local resistance raised combat readiness on all fronts to respond to the Houthi attacks on oil ports, including the second attack on Al-Dhaba port in Hadramout with drones.

The Yemeni Ministry of Defense confirmed that it had intercepted a number of Houthi booby-trapped marches that were targeting the oil export platform in the port of Al-Dhaba in Hadramout Governorate, noting that the Yemeni army forces are ready in various formations and locations to confront and deter such threats, which represent a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms.

The Houthi attacks coincided with the UN Security Council holding a session to discuss the situation in Yemen, in which the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, affirmed his commitment to continue working to bring the Houthis back to the path of peace and to abandon the option of war, which continues to bring more crises to the Yemeni people.

In the first international reaction to the new Houthi attack against the port of Al-Dhaba, the US ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, renewed, in a statement he issued after his visit to Aden, his call to the Houthi militia to stop the threat to maritime trade and return to the negotiating table.

In addition, 11 civilians were injured in Hodeidah, including women and children, as a result of a Houthi mine explosion in their vehicle in the Al-Jah area of ​​the Beit Al-Faqih district, in the south of the governorate.
